The Allure Group Celebrates Nurses Week

June 7, 2019

The Allure Group observed Nurses Week in mid-May, affording one and all the opportunity to salute a group of people deserving of endless praise, for countless reasons.

Meals were prepared in the nurses’ honor, at all six Allure facilities. Gifts were presented, games were played, special events took place and a good time was had by all. It was also Nursing Home Week this month which meant even more reason to celebrate and honor all of our incredible staff. Thank you very much to everyone who helped to put on these wonderful events and celebrations.

According to the World Health Organization, there are 29 million nurses and midwives in the world, 3.9 million of whom work in the United States. It is estimated that there will be a demand for about a million more in 2020.

The challenges they face are many. Starting with the fact that they must make quick, life-saving decisions and must adapt to ever-changing circumstances.

Also on the list of challenges nurses face include such things as having to know “all there is to know about 18,000-plus medications: etiology, classification, contraindications, dosage, allergies, etc.;” being “asked to learn whole new software systems from scratch;” having to arrive at work “when it’s still dark out and go home after it’s dark again;” feeling guilty for “leaving their patients for the 10 to 30 minutes they (maybe) get to take for lunch;” and “spending 12-plus hours a day on their feet and still (being) told by their own doctors that they should get more exercise.”

The point is that it is a job that is physically, mentally and emotionally demanding, and requires the best of those who do it, day after day after day.

In other words, nurses earn every bit of credit they are given and we are so beyond thankful for the incredible staff that we have across our centers.

Below are photos from the celebrations we held across our centers in honor of our amazing nurses:
